Any post that sets gallery: true in its frontmatter contributes its
image-host photos to the Gallery page, grouped as an album that
links back here. Hover a photo (or open it) to read the caption, camera, and
shooting settings pulled from its EXIF.
The six frames below are Creative Commons photographs from Wikimedia Commons, standing in for your own image-host links.
An image that shouldn’t join the album — a screenshot, a route map — takes a
"nogallery" marker after its link: it still renders here in the post, it just
never reaches the gallery page. The relief map below does exactly that, and the
marker itself is stripped before it can become a tooltip. The reverse works
too: a single "gallery" photo in an ordinary post joins the gallery on its
own.
Video works the same way
The syntax is the one you already use for photos: point the link at an .mp4,
.webm, .mov or .m4v file and the post renders a player with a poster
frame, while the gallery collects a tile with a play badge that opens and plays
in the lightbox. Poster and duration come from the same thumbnail script — it
grabs a single frame rather than downloading the clip.
